Where to Live in Buckhead

Large southern estate with columns and landscaped grounds.

Buckhead is commonly known as one of the best, most affluent neighborhoods in Atlanta. But Buckhead itself contains more than 40 distinct subdivisions, each with its own character and amenities. To help you choose the perfect community for your family, here’s a deeper dive into some of our favorite neighborhoods within Buckhead!

Tuxedo Park

Named for the majestic nature of its homes, Tuxedo Park is one of the most exclusive, top-tier neighborhoods in Buckhead. Behind the community’s gates, you’ll find more than a century’s worth of incredible architecture, with estates surrounding by beautifully landscaped gardens and lawns. And Despite the sequestered feeling if Tuxedo Park, with its lush greenery and long driveways, the community is still just minutes away from Downtown Atlanta.

Since Tuxedo Park is home to some of the wealthiest Atlanta residents, it’s no surprise that homes here are incredibly expensive. Homes here can cost upwards of 5 million dollars, so be prepared to pay up if you want to be part of this to-shelf community.

Argonne Forest

Another highly popular neighborhood in Buckhead, Argonne Forest was developed from an original estate covering more than 100 acres. While that’s large for one estate, it means that Argonne Forest as a neighborhood is relatively small, with just 600 residents living here. Buying a home in Argonne is less expensive than Tuxedo Park; homes here usually sell for between $700,000 to just around $1 Million.

Homes in Argonne Forest feature a variety of architectural styles, including everything from classic Tudor homes to Italian Villas. The neighborhood also benefits from highly ranked local schools and a prime location close to all the amenities residents could ask for. The only downside of this Buckhead neighborhood? It’s hard to get into. You’ll find very few homes for sale since most residents settle here to stay, and the homes that do sell are battlegrounds for prospective buyers.

Chastain Park

The actual green space dubbed Chastain Park is the largest park in Atlanta, and one of the most beautiful areas of the city. Chastain Park, the Buckhead neighborhood, follows suit, as one of the most desirable communities in Atlanta. This neighborhood is perfect for families and professionals who want a more active, involved community with plenty of things to do. From the local amphitheater that features concerts throughout the year, to a variety of amenities including tennis courts, a gymnasium and even a horse park, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in Chastain Park.

Chastain Park features a variety of home styles and it’s the neighborhood in Buckhead where you’ll find the most new-construction homes as well. The price of a home in Chastain Park can vary as much as the architecture; houses here sell at anywhere from $400,000 to upwards of $3 Million.
