Finding the Best Brunch in Atlanta – A 2023 Guide

Here in Atlanta, if there’s one thing we’re serious about, it’s good food. From classic, old-fashioned Southern comfort food to innovative modern cuisine, you can find anything you’re craving in the ATL. We’ve got delicious dinners, lovely lunches, and breakfasts to die for, but above all, we know how to do BRUNCH.

If you aren’t familiar with the best in-between meal of the day, brunch is a magical time between breakfast and lunch, where pastries and heavenly meats come together. Brunch is the reason that waffles and fried chicken go together. It’s the best thing since sliced bread (and speaking of, you need to try some southern-style french toast.) Georgians are so obsessed with brunch, we even got liquor laws changed in 2018 to make room for our morning mimosas. That’s right: Georgia laws now permit brunch locations to begin serving alcohol at 11AM on Sundays, rather than having to wait until 12:30. Like I said, brunch is magical.

Whether you’re visiting Atlanta for the first time, moving to Atlanta full-time, or you’ve been here forever, brunch is an absolute must on your list of fun things to do in Atlanta. Of course, with so many options, it’s hard to pick where you should spend your morning relaxing and eating with friends! To help guide your taste buds, here are our favorite brunch spots in Atlanta.

With a name like Buttermilk Kitchen, you know their chicken buttermilk biscuits are going to be out of this world. Buttermilk’s chef and owner, Suzanne Vizethann whose cooking has been featured on the Food Network competition Chopped, and opened up her own restaurant in 2012. Vizethann and her team make everything on the menu from scratch, and she even gets her fruits and veggies from local farms. Try the french toast with rhubarb jam and mascarpone whipped cream, and you’ll become the newest Buttermilk brunch regular.

The Flying Biscuit Cafe

Today, you can find Flying Biscuit Cafes in 13 different Georgia locations, but it all started in 1993 on Atlanta’s east side. The menu is based in traditional southern comfort food, so it’s the perfect spot to visit if you need some classic flatiron grits or oven fried chicken. The Flying Biscuit also features gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options, so if you have friends of all diets, you need to check this top brunch spot in Atlanta out.

Down on Emory Point, this eatery has been a staple for Atlanta brunch lovers since 2013. Try the smoked hash with crisped pastrami, or grab an open faced bagel with lox for an authentic Jewish cuisine experience.
